Alyn Adams, having survived a catholic education and
Durban upbringing, is a thirty-something who has
been cracking up crowds with his quirky, thoughtful
comedy since 1994. His career started in improv with
Durban’s Comedy Games, followed by the Johannesburg
troupes of Comic Bytes which led him to Natural Born Kidders.
One of the co-founding comics at the Civic Theatre's Punchline Pub,
he has since been performing at every major stand-up initiative
the country has to offer, even appearing at the occasional rock
festival.
His stand-up career began in 1995 and was one of the
founder comics at
the Civic Theatre’s PUNCHLINE PUB. He has since been
in great demand to perform at every stand-up initiative around
South Africa, including Jo’burg’s JUNXION, BLU,
COMEDY WAREHOUSE and Pretoria’s BOSTON TEA PARTY –
as well as the occasional rock show.

His off the wall, intellectual spin on the most
regular of human occurrences is always original and
refreshing – not to mention unlike any other
stand-up performance on the South African circuit.
Between 1996 and 1997, Alyn
performed in Durban, Johannesburg and Grahamstown
with the hit show Durban Poison Comedy Roadshow.
Revived in 2006, he was invited to work on the
Smirnoff International Comedy Festival in the Mother
City (1996/1997) and Durban (1997). In 1998 and
1999, Alyn launched his solo 90-minute stand-up show,
entitled
Rant Boy, at major theatres around Johannesburg,
Durban and Grahamstown.

More on Alyn Adams....

In
1996 and 1997, he performed in Durban, Johannesburg
and Grahamstown with the smash-hit DURBAN POISON
COMEDY ROADSHOW, and was also invited to work on the
SMIRNOFF INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL in Cape Town.
In 1998 and 1999, he presented his solo 90 minute
stand-up show, RANT BOY, at theatres in
Johannesburg, Durban and Grahamstown. His comedy has
received rave reviews and has
been described as “a non-stop flow of verbal gems” and “the finest breed of
social vivisection” (Charl Blignaut, The Mail &
Guardian).
Ever since
his early appearances in
September 1999, Alyn has been a regular face on the
COMEDY EXPRESS, playing a jam-packed schedule of venues
and shows countrywide. He’s also in ever-growing demand for
corporate bookings, and is another founder member of
Parker Leisure’s most recent project, improvisational
comedy in the popular "Who’s Line is it Anyway" mould.
Alayn
appeared on Joe Parker’s COMEDY EXPRESS VIDEO in
2000 and was the first ever comic to be featured in SABC3’s
COMEDY SHOWCASE (2001).
